A large window on my 50th floor location offered supreme views of the Las Vegas Strip and Bellagio fountains.
The suite had a living room area that was separated from the bedroom by a desk and television. The kitchen had a small dining table with two chairs, a mini-fridge with two bottles of water, a small cooktop, a sink and a microwave.
And having a kitchen in your room makes it so much easier to eat healthy while traveling! Be sure to request a room on an upper floor.
I visited solo and had a suite to myself, actually making me wish my family was with me that never happens in Vegas! When my son is with me, we like to make microwave popcorn and watch movies in the room, so the microwave oven is a great amenity!
If there is one thing that the Vdara is lacking, it is dining options. The resort is adjacent to the Bellagio, which has no shortage of dining options!
The Bellagio offers everything from fancy restaurants overlooking the fountains, to snack bars and a buffet. The Vdara features a rooftop pool.
Snacks and cocktails are served at the poolside bar open seasonally. It is not a flashy casino, a collection of restaurants bearing the names of famed French chefs, a theme park, or a gathering spot for drunken bachelorette parties.
Rather, it is a relatively small, quiet, elegant, understated hotel. Check-in was a breeze - they have complimentary valet parking, and the lobby is right near the entrance.
Rather, it is much like a normal hotel in any other urban city - you check in, and walk through a relatively small lobby to the elevator bank leading up to your room.
It was hands-down the easiest Vegas arrival experience I have ever had. The rooms are nice and modern. When you walk into the room, you are in the kitchenette with a little table and some basic appliances.
The rest of the room is spacious, though divided by a wall breaking up the little living area from the sleeping area.
I personally could have done without the wall since it cut up the room, though my husband loved the fact that there were flat screen TVs on both sides of the wall so he could watch sports from the couch while I watched Teen Mom from the bed.
The bathroom has a nice big shower and separate bathtub. The general decor of the hotel is understated but chic, kind of zen and spa-like, in a minimalistic way.
The Aveda bath products were nice, and the towels were the kind you might actually consider buying for yourself, as opposed to those small, scratchy towels you get at so many hotels.
We had a standard room, and it had a giant wall of windows which overlooked the Bellagio and its fountains. The best thing about the room was the quality of sleep we got there.
The combination of the fact that the sleeping area is set back from the entryway, thick walls, and the general upscale nature of the clientele meant that we didn't hear a single sound coming from the hallway or our neighbors all night long.
I don't think I can say this for any other Las Vegas hotel I have stayed in. Actually, that is not true. The real best thing about this hotel is that it is ALL NON-SMOKING.
There is no casino, meaning that you are not blasted with the stench stale smoke every time you leave your room. For the first time, I didn't come home with the feeling that I had to wash all of the clothes that I brought on the trip, regardless of whether I wore them or not.
It is kind of like being in Vegas, yet not. The location is great, right of the central strip. It is linked to Bellagio and a tram that runs to Aria and then Monte Carlo by a covered walkway.
It is also very close to the Aria, which has a lot more restaurants and a casino if that is more your thing. It is a minute walk to get to the actual strip, but that wasn't a big deal to us.
Some might say that Vdara is a bit boring since there is only one restaurant, no casino, and more your typical hotel lobby bar than an actual bar or club scene.
But if you are going to Vegas and are looking for something other than your typical drunken, smoke-filled, bachelorette party scene, I think it is a perfect choice.
The hotel is quite tranquil which makes a difference from all the other hotels. We were asked where we would like the location of our room to be so we chose a higher floor.
The room was spotless, spacious and well laid out. They leave all the numbers for you to ring if you need cutlery etc which is sent up within 30mins not that we would need it.
The bed was so comfy and the view amazing. The hotel was linked with a walk way to the Bellagio on 1 side which is located down the corridor beside the restaurant or across the entrance to the Cosmopolitan.
The fees are a bit excessive if you don't use the gym or wi-fi but the hotel is well worth the money. If you are looking for a hotel that has a bit more of a buzz, then this is not it.
But if you want a hotel that is clean, quiet and a bit more plush than your average hotel than I would recommend this. Prior reviews have thoroughly covered the positives of this property, including its excellent location and relaxed atmosphere.
The only thing I would add is it seems the developer was in a rush to get the rooms on the market. The rooms are nicely decorated in a trendy style, but the furnishings are not top quality and already show major wear and tear.
